Perplexity AI announced Thursday that its WhatsApp bot now supports advanced image editing powered by the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model, also known as Nano Banana. The development was confirmed by Perplexity co-founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas on LinkedIn.

Through this integration, WhatsApp users can modify photos directly using natural language prompts. The accuracy and quality of the generated images depend on the clarity and specificity of the user’s instructions.

Srinivas demonstrated the feature in a brief LinkedIn video showing the bot transforming a user’s photo to make him bald in seconds. The demonstration highlighted the tool’s speed and precision in applying requested edits.

Users can access the feature by opening WhatsApp and messaging Perplexity AI at +1 (833) 436-3285. After uploading an image, users can issue commands such as:

* Apply a 1970s vintage effect with warm film tones and subtle vignetting.

* Transform a subject into a Pixar-style cartoon while maintaining the original pose and outfit.

* Create a miniature effect with a subject standing on a giant object.

* Place a person inside an astronaut helmet surrounded by colorful nebulae.

Beyond photo editing, the WhatsApp bot can handle multiple tasks including summarizing headlines, composing emails, and answering queries.

The Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model was launched on August 26 and has quickly gained traction among creators. The model supports prompt-based editing, multi-image fusion, and maintains character consistency. Developers can access it through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, while enterprises can use Vertex AI.
